David Goggins is one hard nail to crack. The former NAVY Seal, ultra-marathon runner, and ultra-distance cyclist is unstoppable even after retirement. He not only works hard towards staying fit but also writes books on how he got to where he is today. His memoir ‘Can’t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds’ came out in 2018 and in that book, he spoke about his motivations. He speaks about the harsh reality and the fact that one needs to be mentally strong. He also speaks about them on Instagram and the most important advice he gives among all others is discipline.

Recently, the fitness icon shared a small clip from his convention where a young man is asking him the most fundamental question in life. Goggins’ answer gave people a reality check they had been in for, for quite some time.

In the video, the athlete and fitness guru are standing on the stage while a young man’s voice comes up with a question. The person’s face cannot be seen since he is in the audience but he says that he is 26 and still does not know where he is going in life or how to have discipline. The video was captioned, “The problem is that the majority of people don’t truly know who they are so they search externally for answers. You will always be lost when searching externally to figure out who you are! The hard truth is that most of us know exactly what we have to do, we are just searching for an easier way to do it!”

Goggins goes straight to the answer and does not sugarcoat it. He says, “You’re not gonna find it from coming to these fuc*ing conventions. Not gonna find it in a fu**ing book.” Goggins said that one needs to sit down and think about what one wants from life and what one wants to be rather than asking someone else.

He has always kept this firm ground and belief throughout his career and this is why he overcame all his battles. Gogins wanted to be the best and so he even fought with his phobias. He also learned a lot from his childhood experiences.
Joe Rogan had a conversation with Goggins some time ago, where the latter spoke about his traumatic childhood. His relationship with his father was strained and it changed the Goggins. Replying to Rogan, Goggins said, Yeah, that fu*ked me up, … I realized I was just a sorry m*******er, I quit praying rescue, I couldn’t sway the water. Every time sh*t got hard. As I said, I ain’t had talent… I fu*king didn’t have sh*t.
Goggins blamed his father for his own faults but he got to know about his father’s childhood which helped him change his perspective. Goggins realized that his own demons were his father’s as well and once he found the solution he fought tooth and nail. This is how the fitness guru found his mental strength and discipline.
