Hundreds of kids enjoy thousands of free summer swimming sessions – North Lincolnshire Council

Hundreds of youngsters had a splashtastic time at leisure centres across North Lincolnshire through the summer, clocking up more than 7,000 visits for the free Summer Daze swimming sessions.
The popular sessions started on July 20 and ran through until September 4, with all children under 16 able to swim for free during the special sessions.
This included the council’s leisure centres in Brigg, Crowle, Barton-upon-Humber, plus the two Scunthorpe pools at the Pods and Riddings. The council also funded sessions at Epworth Swimming Pool.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “These sessions are always popular which is why we were determined to continue with them and help hard-working families during the six-week break.
“It is brilliant to see so many children taking full advantage of the offer, which has kept them fit and active while having fun safely.”
And Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and communities, added: “As well as helping young people have healthier lifestyles, swimming is an essential life skill that can save lives.
“I am always amazed at the success of these sessions and want to thank all the leisure centre staff who make them possible every year.”
