The Belfast Giants have announced the signing of Scott Conway and Cam Knight for the forthcoming 2021/22 season.
Forward Scott Conway was born in Basingstoke, England but the UK native moved to Canada with his dad, aged 12 to further his hockey career.
Conway was joint top scorer for GB in 2020, picking up three points (tying with Dallas Ehrhardt), Conway was named Player of the Tournament by the GB Supporters Club.
Speaking on joining his new club, Conway said: “Every time you pull on a new jersey, it’s always a great experience, especially your first time on the ice in front of the fans who will be supporting you all season. I’m excited to be a part of the Giants… I think we might have a good chance to bring home some silverware.”
He joins the Giants after a stint last season with Allen Americans in the ECHL.
Defenceman Cam Knight made his professional debut with the Fort Wayne Komets at the end of the 2018-19 season, before moving on to the Tulsa Oilers for 2019-20.
“I had heard so many great things about the city, about the League, about the fans. It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m very excited. They have a history of winning; the fans are unbelievable; they average the highest attendances in the League," said Knight.
The 26-year-old from North Reading, Massachusetts was in talks with Giants head coach Adam Keefe last year but they broke down ahead of the start of the season.
Commenting on the signings, Adam Keefe, Head Coach for the Belfast Giants said: “We’re excited to sign Scott Conway and Cam Knight for the forthcoming season. These are two impressive young players that we have been watching with interest for some time now and who we believe will add further energy and ambition to our growing roster.”
